Inktober

балет- 2017

I know it is already December and it is to late to post anything related to Inktober
but I wanted to talk about this artwork I did on March 2017
The artwork got created spontaneously
I did not planned for this drawing to be this "good"
I drew a sketch of the ballerina
and  preceded to ink each line with a Chinese brush
I love the expressive pose of the ballerina
It is as if she was trying to leap into the air
trying to be weightless
I also like the leotard which features a mesh that was fun to draw

  1. Why do you think it turned out so “good,” despite the spontaneity in which you originally drew it?

What is it about women that seems to be so influential in your life and art?

    1. I have come to realize that when I want an artwork to turn out well the opposite occurs. When I draw without thinking about how good it is going to turn out the drawing becomes less stringent and more free.
To answer your second question I have to look back in time and find that most of my caregivers have been all women. They have instilled in my a respect for them that I feel a need to honor their presence in each work of art I create. Also I find it more intriguing and challenging to draw women compared to males.

  2. Perhaps you’ll have to find ways to deal with whatever tensions arise when you are intensely focused—if you desire to grow as an artist.

So, women nurtured you, and you are nurturing them through your art. A kind tribute indeed. “Intriguing” and “challenging”—no two words I’m sure were uttered more to describe women.

Thank you for indulging my questions.
